The story behind the design
South Carolina
Southern Roads. Coastal Waters. Unforgettable Places.
South Carolina has a way of slowing the journey down.
Maybe it's the live oaks stretching over an old road.
Maybe it's the marsh grass moving beside the coast.
Maybe it's the smell of barbecue coming from a roadside restaurant.
Or maybe it's reaching the beach, taking off your shoes, and realizing there's nowhere else you need to be.
From the Upstate to the Lowcountry
Greenville and the Upstate sit near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering waterfalls, trails, growing communities, restaurants, and a lively downtown.
Columbia brings another side of South Carolina.
Continue toward Charleston and the landscape changes again.
Historic streets, colorful architecture, restaurants, waterfront views, nearby beaches, and Lowcountry culture give Charleston an unmistakable character.
Then there are Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort, Georgetown, and countless coastal communities.
Each offers another way to experience South Carolina.
The Lowcountry
The Lowcountry is one of the state's most recognizable landscapes.
Marshes.
Tidal creeks.
Live oaks.
Waterways.
Barrier islands.
Fishing boats.
Seafood.
And sunsets stretching across the water.
It's a place where the landscape itself becomes part of the memory.
Food Worth Stopping For
South Carolina takes its food seriously.
Barbecue traditions run deep.
So do seafood, shrimp and grits, rice dishes, Southern cooking, fresh produce, family restaurants, and recipes that have been passed down for generations.
Sometimes the restaurant is the destination.
Sometimes it's the unexpected stop you talk about for years.
South Carolina Is Part of My Story
Maybe South Carolina means a summer at Myrtle Beach.
A weekend in Charleston.
A walk through downtown Greenville.
A family trip to Hilton Head.
A seafood dinner near the water.
A drive through a small town.
Or simply a place you discovered along the way.
That's MileAmerica.
I've been there.
I know that place.
South Carolina is part of my story.
