The story behind the design
Maryland
From the Mountains to the Bay.
Maryland may be smaller than many states, but a journey across it can take you through remarkably different landscapes.
Mountains rise in the west.
Cities and communities fill the center.
The Chesapeake Bay divides much of the state.
And farther east, the land stretches toward the Atlantic Ocean.
Life Around the Chesapeake
The Chesapeake Bay is at the heart of Maryland's identity.
For generations, communities have lived and worked around its waters.
Boats.
Marinas.
Fishing.
Waterfront towns.
Crabs.
Oysters.
Seafood restaurants.
Summer days beside the water.
The Chesapeake isn't simply something you drive across.
It's part of Maryland life.
Baltimore, Annapolis and Beyond
Baltimore brings waterfront neighborhoods, museums, sports, restaurants, markets, music, and unmistakable local character.
Annapolis offers brick streets, waterfront views, sailing traditions, restaurants, shops, and a historic downtown.
Travel west and you'll find mountains, forests, lakes, and smaller communities.
Travel east and the Eastern Shore offers farmland, waterways, small towns, seafood, and a slower coastal rhythm.
Keep going and you'll reach Ocean City and the Atlantic.
A Maryland Tradition
Ask someone about Maryland food and eventually you'll hear about blue crabs.
Crab cakes.
Steamed crabs.
Old Bay.
Seafood by the water.
Gathering around a table covered in brown paper and taking your time.
Food becomes an experience—and the experience becomes a memory.
Maryland Is Part of My Story
Maybe Maryland means Baltimore.
Maybe it's Annapolis.
Ocean City.
The Eastern Shore.
The Chesapeake Bay.
Western Maryland.
A crab feast with family.
A waterfront drive.
Or a town you discovered along the way.
I've been there.
I know that place.
Maryland is part of my story.
